Apple said four years ago that over 100 million U.S. residents were within 15 minutes of an Apple Store.
Tomorrow, a few more will be that much closer.
Just in time for the holidays, Apple is holding the grand opening of its new Apple Store tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to midnight.
Regular hours will run to 11 p.m. daily, with a midnight closing on Friday and Saturday.
This marks the third Apple store in Las Vegas and the second one on the Strip -- in The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace (right next to the Gap).
The first Apple Store in Vegas was in the Fashion Show Mall, and the second opened recently at the Town Square.
A special offer at all Apple Stores -- get a free iPod with the purchase of a Mac. Offer expires Sept. 15.
The opening of an Apple Store usually comes with free t-shirts for all attendees. Not to mention Apple geeks galore (of which we are one).

Las Vegas (May 15, 2007) - In an event that combines the wagering format of
Texas Hold 'Em with the skill of golf, Andrew "AJ" Johnson, a 36-year-old
car salesman from Davison, MI, outlasted a field of 80 amateur golfers -
including several of the world's greatest poker players - to win the second
annual World Series of Golf and its $250,000 top prize.
Johnson successfully knocked out poker pros Allen Cunningham, Erick Lindgren
and Dee Tiller, sealing his victory by nailing a tee shot just a few yards
short of the pin on the first playoff hole, a 163-yard par three at Paiute
Golf Resort in Las Vegas. Lindgren, a member of Team Full Tilt, finished
second, winning $60,000.
With a $10,000 buy-in, the event attracted amateur golfers from all across
the United States and Canada. Participants represented all walks of life
ranging from private equity investors and Las Vegas high-rollers to
electricians and construction contractors.
High-profile participants for the event included:

The Round Mound of Rebound is on the verge of getting tossed into the slammer according to a ESPN news item...
Former NBA all-star and current TNT announcer Charles Barkley received four $100K markers from the Wynn during a gambling binge last October. Barkley has refused to pay back his loan.
"We're in the process of sending Mr. Barkley notice that we're considering filing a criminal complaint," Clark County District Attorney David Roger said. "He'll have an opportunity like anybody else to make restitution to the hotel."
Barkley has been extremely honest and open about his wild gambling habits although admits that he has never gambled on basketball.
"Do I have a gambling problem? Yeah, I do have a gambling problem," Barkley said in a 2006 interview with ESPN. "But I don't consider it a problem because I can afford to gamble."
Stay tuned for more information on the Barkley-Wynn-400K story.
The Persian Gulf is ever-expanding into Las Vegas.
Yesterday, regulators of Michigan gaming gave its approval for Dubai World to own as much as 15 percent of MGM Mirage.
Already Dubai World owns half of CityCenter, MGM Mirage's $8 billion mixed-use project underway between Bellagio and Monte Carlo scheduled to open by the end of 2009. Dubai World currently has almost 10 percent of MGM Mirage, with mutual plans to purchase up to 20 percent. They initially purchased 5 percent and have been increasing ownership ever since.
Unlike Nevada, Michigan gaming law requires approval if any investor own more than 10 percent. MGM Mirage recently opened MGM Grand in Detroit.

Whatever is ailing Eddie Van Halen has caused additional show
cancellations for a total of 17 dates in the Midwest and East Coast
that will need to be rescheduled.
Van Halen is currently suffering through a series of medical tests, though the band's promoter isn't revealing what types of tests they are.
The guitarist has recently gone through a hip replacement and tongue cancer, the latter of which was cleared in 2002.
With a stint in rehab last year for alcohol addiction, a relapse may have been the cause.
The tour, with David Lee Roth, Alex Van Halen, and Wolfgang Van Halen, is expected to resume with the planned Las Vegas date of April 19 at Mandalay Bay, part of the annual Tiger Jam charity event.

The recent economic slowdown has caused the Las Vegas Convention and
Visitors Authority to ramp up their promotion of our fine neon city in
an effort to draw more tourists and remind businesses there's still
plenty of convention space to be rented.
The $11 million planned for a new marketing campaign was moved up two months and will contain commercials featuring a new slogan.
"What happens in Vegas..." no, not that one, but it's still being kept.
"Your Vegas is showing..." not that one either, but it also will still be used.
Hey, if you spent millions on a slogan, you would keep 'em too.
The new slogan is "Vegas, Right Now."
As in, get your butt over here today to help out our poor casinos.
By our rough estimate, that boils down to $3.67 million per word.
Commercials will soon be touting the new multimillion-dollar slogan in major cities across the U.S.
